See which studies below are available for you to take part to help make a difference in how to prevent violence and abuse.

Parent/carer Survey

CHILD/ADOLESCENT TO PARENT VIOLENCE AND ABUSE TOWARDS PARENTS/CARERS IN LONDON

What is the research about?

Children and young people’s use of violence and abuse towards parents/carers in London, how it affects young people and their families, what help is available to people, and how to stop it happening in the future. The study is being funded by the London Violence Reduction Unit. Researchers from Ecorys, University of Hull and University of Roehampton are working collaboratively on this project to explore parents and carer’s thoughts on the support from services/organisations working with families.

What will it involve?

A private conversation with a researcher via videocall or telephone (however you prefer) for around 45-60 minutes (but can be longer or shorter). It will include some questions about your experiences of support and services, any challenges you faced in getting the support and what you think could be improved in the future.

Do I have to take part?

No, you do not have to take part. If you do take part, you can stop answering the questions at any point, without giving a reason, and you can skip questions that you do not want to answer. If you later decide that you do not want us to have your answers, let us know by emailing malika.shah@ecorys.com or by calling Malika (07554 911 998).

How will the information be used?

The information you give us will help us to understand more about what type of support works best for parents and carers. The findings will help to improve support and activities for other parents and carers in London in the future. The information that is collected will only be used for this study. After it is finished, the information will be securely destroyed in compliance with data protection law.

Is it private?

Yes, it is. Any information  we collect for the research will be treated as confidential and all participating parents will remain anonymous unless their is a significant risk to yourself or others around you. This research will help us write a report for the London Violence Reduction Unit.

You can read more about how the information from the research will be used, here: https://files.ecorys.org.uk/mopac/index.ht

Is there anything else I should be aware of?

The researchers will take care not to ask questions that are upsetting. However, if you would like to talk with someone afterwards, support is available from:

VIOLENCE AND ABUSE TOWARDS PARENTS/CARERS IN LONDON

What is the research about?

Child and young people’s use of violence and abuse towards parents/carers in London, how it affects young people and their families, what help is available to people, and how to stop it happening in the future. The study is being paid for by the London Violence Reduction Unit. Researchers from Ecorys, University of Hull and University of Roehampton are working together for this project.

What will it involve?

It will involve a private conversation with a researcher, by videocall or by telephone (however you prefer) for around 30 minutes, but it can be longer or shorter. You will be asked some questions about your experiences of support services, what you liked or did not like and how you think services could be better.

Do I have to take part?

We would only have to tell someone else if you tell us something that makes us concerned, that you or somebody else is at risk of harm. We would have a duty to report this, to keep you and others safe.
